Walter Smith | Athletic Trainer Emeriti
From age 13 Walter Smith has been devoted to helping athletes when his high school Coach asked him to be his trainer when he did not make the football team. Smith landed his dream job as Head Baseball Trainer for Georgia Tech where he worked in this capacity nearly 30 years and when he was not at Tech, he was at his alma mater, Morris Brown as Head Athletic Trainer for men and women sports. Smith has had a career having worked with NFL teams as a training camp guest in ’84 and ’85 (Falcons), ’86 (Dolphins) and ’98 and ’99 (Eagles) and served as practice site trainer for the U.S. men’s and women’s basketball teams during the 1996 Olympic Games. Honoring the legacy of Mr. Smith years providing care to Techs athletes, the baseball training room has been named in his honor.

Renita Santos | Clinic Manager
An accomplished civil engineer, Santos has vast knowledge in design and construction of sub-divisions, roadways, and infrastructure projects. She also holds a degree from DeVry University with a tested knowledge in Network Systems and a proven leader in project management, collaboration, and customer service. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot networks, configure routers and switches.
Renita works as a Executive Director of Peace on the Move for Peace Baptist Church. Peace on the Move, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that strives to lead with integrity by providing a network of resources. These assets encourage, equip, educate, and empower individuals and families from dependency to self-sufficiency in the community through Christ.
Santos worked five years as Clinic Manager for Excel Orthopedics (Loganville, GA). In her spare time Santos enjoys playing golf and traveling.
Jason Terrell | Director Community Engagement
Currently, Terrell serves as a Program Officer at the Walton Family Foundation, there, he supports community demanded educational change in several places across the country.
As a political science major at Furman Jason Terrell’s plan was to graduate, enter law school, and then go into public interest law, yet he decided to follow his passion. In 2014 he and his friend and fellow teacher Mario Jovan Shaw co-founded Profound Gentlemen, an organization that works to support teachers who are men of color through mentoring, professional development, and community engagement. Currently, Profound Gentlemen has 125 members in four cities: Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Memphis.
When I'm not working, I typically spend time with my wife and son, deep into music, and boxing.
